When Jolie Gentil tries to buy a cup of coffee the morning after a storm knocks
out power at her house, she finds Java Jolt unlocked and minus its owner. A
bigger surprise is seeing proprietor Joe Regan a few minutes later, badly injured.
Who would hurt him? And does a potential killer think Jolie saw him? The
normal routine of appraising houses and volunteering at the Harvest for All food
pantry is interrupted by an SUV that nearly smashes Jolie and a break-in at the
home Jolie and Scoobie share. And is someone paying too much attention to Iraqi
war vet Max, whose injuries make it hard for him to look after himself?

Jolie wants to figure out how to stay safe, maybe to stay alive. She also wants her
budding romance with Scoobie to stay on track, but Scoobie firmly believes in
leaving investigations to the police. Which one will give in, or will Jolie's need to
know mean the end of a solid friendship and a chance for more?

Praise for the Jolie Gentil Cozy Mystery Series
As a librarian, I'll recommend this series to readers who want a good story without too
much gore or sex...the right mix of humor, mystery and just a light touch of romance.

Engaging Mysteries Minus the "Yuck" Factor. I may be a wimp who doesn't like my
reading all mucked up with gore and guts, but I also like characters who are more grown
up and engaged with real life  C. Nisaragi, Amazon, July 17, 2013
